MOZARTPLATZ
FORUM MOZARTPLATZ: AN IMMERSIVE ACOUSTICAL SPACE FOR MODERN EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS
Amadeus Acoustics, in partnership with Rohde Acoustics, contributed to system design and installation for the major reconstruction project at Forum Mozartplatz in central Vienna.
Working alongside Unverblümt’s Architect, Erich Strolz, Amadeus Acoustics’s role in the larger project of transforming the pre-existing space into a modern venue for business and culture was centered around a multifunction room within the forum. The space is intended to host a range of events, from workshops and training sessions to cultural and recreational gatherings. As such, the possibilities of its functionality are increased through the integration of immersive audio.
One of the primary challenges of the project was to seamlessly integrate the acoustical elements into the beautiful wood-based design of the room without making them visible. This was essential to maintain the aesthetics of the space, ensuring that the immersive sound and the presence of 27 loudspeakers and 16 microphones would not detract from the design of the relatively small space. QSC speakers and DPA microphones were selected for their proven track record of delivering exceptional quality and reliability, making them the perfect choice for this project.
Another critical aspect of the project was the space's ability to transition between different ambiances designed according to specific themes and uses. This is achieved through the synergy of ambient soundscapes and interchanging visuals displayed across half-transparent screens and easily controlled by the push of a button. The end result is a truly immersive array of experiences adapted to needs as diverse as day-long training programs, quick strategy sessions, recreational gatherings, and cultural performances.
Following the design phase, Amadeus Acoustics has continued to follow up on the project by working closely with the space managers to ensure that the system matches the use case. This ongoing support has been instrumental in bridging the gap between original idea proposals for themes and the evolving needs recognized by the space management company overseeing the room's use through trial and error and real-world observations.
