THE STRUGGLE
The pit absorbs the orchestra before it reaches the stalls, so the balance the conductor hears is not the balance the audience hears
The building is listed. Reflectors, canopies and structural changes are either refused outright or take years of consent.
Singers on stage get little usable return from the pit, and compensate by pushing, which costs them across a long run.

Voice lift supports spoken passages and recitative without putting a visible microphone anywhere near a performer
A virtual orchestra shell gives the pit the reflections a built shell would provide, in a house where no shell can be installed.

When stage director Romeo Castellucci and Ensemble Pygmalion’s musical director Raphaël Pichon premiered their interpretation of Mozart’s requiem at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2019, the work was instantly praised as a modern masterpiece.
