Leon Merkel is a research and development engineer based in Vienna, Austria. Within his master’s degree in Audio and Electrical Engineering at the IEM Graz, his research publications range from perceptual studies of immersive sound reinforcement systems, 3D reverbs, over line source directivity to finite element simulations of porous acoustic absorbers. His bachelor’s degree in Sound and Music Production was completed at the Hochschule Darmstadt, giving him a strong foundation across the technical and creative sides of audio production and especially live sound engineering.

As the R&D Engineer at Amadeus Acoustics, Merkel’s role is to develop novel concepts and algorithms for future immersive real-time processing, innovative virtual and active acoustic systems and transparent voice lift applications.
